Success Coaching for Your Life and Business
World-renowned performers and top athletes recognize coaching as a key element in their success. They don’t depend solely upon themselves, or rely solely on mentors to support and guide them. They recognize the need for a neutral, unbiased partner who holds their agenda and keeps them on track from good to great.
Corporate leaders face many daunting challenges, such as skillfully manipulating corporate politics, integrating career with other life interests, handling conflict, and overcoming overwhelm. Unfortunately, they often lack the unconditional support they need to clearly examine options and direction.
High-potential individuals and those seeking to improve their leadership effectiveness often seek out the services of an executive coach. This may be at their own initiative, or their boss or mentor may suggest it.
Coaching is profoundly different from consulting, mentoring, advice, therapy, or counseling. The coaching process addresses specific goals, challenges, or transitions in the leader’s life and career. It offers the opportunity for the leader to explore options, gain clarity, utilize his strengths and enhance his skills. This ultimately leads him to be a more effective leader and a more important contributor, with a higher sense of control.
Coaching begins with a clear identification of the current state of affairs – the particular challenges the leader is facing now or the particular growth areas where he would like to focus. During the initial “Design the Alliance” session, the leader and coach lay the logistical and relationship framework for the coaching. Coaching continues through regularly scheduled interactive telephone calls and growth assignments between calls. I also offer the option for a 60-minute “I need help NOW!” call that is intensely focused on a specific challenge or opportunity where the leader needs to take some immediate action. The coaching content and relationship are highly individualized to the needs of the client and are strictly confidential.
